Employee-Staff Relations and Business Insurance

1/25/2012 7:50:47 AM
Every business owner owes it to their business to cultivate a good relationship with staff. Employees who have an open line of communication with management, and who feel informed and appreciated are in general, much more likely to work effectively for the company. Disgruntled employees may be more likely to do sloppy work and in some circumstances, be responsible for theft or other criminal acts. You may protect your company from the cost of such an occurrence with business insurance. NJ business owners however are wise to make employee relations a priority.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to keeping staff happy and/or content, particularly in a smaller company. As a start, try to communicate regularly with staff on any major matters or changes that will affect the company. Employees who are left in the dark may feel resentful. This does not of course entail distributing operational intricacies, but more general decisions such as changes in company structure. Do invite staff feedback, good or bad. Advise staff you are open to suggestions to streamline particular tasks or build a better work environment. Inform them too that they are welcome to approach you with any problems.

When it comes to your business insurance, NJ providers do have a range of specialist policies specific to staff-employee relations. These can cover incidences when staff members are involved in criminal acts against the company, and when employers are guilty of sexual harassment, discrimination and a range of other issues.
